Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) star Qamar Adegoke has set his sights on achieving a personal milestone, qualifying for continental football this year, www.aclsports.com reports.
Adegoke, 21, is in his first full season in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) with former champions Shooting Stars after having represented Nasarawa United in the second half of the 2024/25 season.
He was with the Solid Miners last season and scored three times as they beat the drop, but he has now moved to the Ibadan club, where he has managed to get going after a slow start.
Adegoke spoke on this and many more in an exclusive chat with www.aclsports.com.
PLAYING FOR ONE OF THE BIGGEST TEAMS IN THE COUNTRY
”My journey since I joined this club has been awesome. I just want to thank God that I am enjoying the moment now,” began Adegoke on his journey at Shooting Stars so far to www.aclsports.com.
”It is always a great feeling playing in front of Shooting Stars fans. You know it is a generational fanbase, and I am always excited. Out of my six goals so far, I have scored four at home. I like playing at home in front of the fans.”
Meanwhile, amid growing scrutiny of the team’s inconsistent results on the road, head coach Nurudeen Aweroro has faced criticism in recent weeks. However, Adegoke said it remains an honour to play under the former Ikorodu City FC handler, describing the opportunity to work with him as a privilege.
”It is a great privilege for me to work under Coach Nurudeen Aweroro. Through my down moment at the club last year, he has been there for me. The way we communicate during training, before matches, and after the game. He has so much belief in him. It is a great privilege under a coach like Aweroro.”
Qamar Adegoke joined Shooting Stars on a three-year deal last August and hopes to achieve continental success with the Oluyole Warriors this season.
”My personal goal, and for everyone at the club this season, is to get the continental ticket. When I arrived earlier to have transfer discussions with the Sporting Director, Tobi Adepoju, he informed me about the team’s ambition for this season. That’s our main target, and I am very sure we will get it at the end of the campaign.”
Adegoke has scored six times for the Oluyole Warriors from just six starts this term, and most of his goals have come off the bench. He has scored the match winners in the away game at Warri Wolves and the crucial win over Bendel Insurance in Ibadan.
AN EYE ON THE BAG AND MORE
In just his second season in the NPFL, Adegoke is thinking big, just like a regular Nigerian footballer with big ambitions. He is keen to secure the ‘bag’, play for the national team if the chance comes, and be at the top of his game for a long time.
”My ambition is to remain consistent and extend my career beyond average. Every young Nigerian footballer wants to go abroad and make good money. I hope to represent my country and win major titles. In the end, I hope to play at the highest level for 10 to 15 years,” the striker said.
”The particular striker I model my game after is Victor Osimhen. I like the way he presses, aggressive pressing – more like the one I did against Plateau United a few weeks back. I like watching him play a lot,” Adegoke concluded the chat by describing his style of play.
Qamar Adegoke and 3SC, who are currently seventh on the 2025/26 NPFL table with a game in hand, will travel to Aba to take on Abia Warriors in their Matchday 29 fixture this weekend.
