Super Eagles defender Olisa Ndah has left Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Orlando Pirates by mutual consent, the South African club confirmed on Thursday, www.aclsports.com reports.
Ndah, 28, who joined the Buccaneers in 2021 from NPFL side Akwa United, quickly became a presence at the heart of their backline. However, injuries in the past year have limited his playing time, and he has now decided to leave the club despite having some months left on his current deal.
”Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that the Club has reached a mutual agreement with defender Olisa Ndah to part ways,” the PSL side said in a statement on Thursday.
”The Nigerian international requested an early release from his contract, a decision that follows careful and respectful discussions between the player and the Club’s management. Central to these conversations was a shared understanding to afford Ndah the opportunity to secure regular game time elsewhere as he enters the next phase of his career.
”The Club respects Ndah’s desire for increased minutes on the field and acknowledges his honest engagement with management throughout the process. It is in this spirit of mutual respect that an amicable decision was reached.
Pirates paid tribute to Ndah’s professionalism, describing him as dependable and disciplined on the pitch and a model representative of the club off it.
”Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to thank Olisa for his professionalism, dedication, and service to the Club. We wish him every success in the next chapter of his career, both on a personal level and in his continued journey in the game,” added the statement from the Soweto club.
Ndah, who represented Nigeria at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, won three MTN 8 Cup titles with the South African giants. In total, he made 81 appearances across the CAF Champions League, CAF Confederation Cup, the PSL, and other cup competitions during his time with the Orlando Stadium outfit.
The former Remo Stars defender is now on the lookout for a new club before the January transfer window closes.
