The President of Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, Chiemeka Ezenwanne told www.aclsports.com that the team has commenced their international training tour in Germany.

Ezenwanne revealed that 7 women, 2 men powerlifters, and 2 coaches departed the country on 13th August to Germany.

He said the para powerlifters are ready to wipe the show of shame witnessed by Nigerians at the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympics.

Ezenwanne assured Nigeria’s Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh that the para-athletes will deliver gold medals for the country when the Paralympics commences.

He said, “After two months of intensive camping exercise sponsored by the Nigeria Para Powerlifting Federation, I am happy to announce that the lifters have resumed their international training tour in Germany. The para powerlifters are motivated and in top form to make the country proud.

“The lifters know what is at stake and are aware that the nation is not happy with the performance of Team Nigeria at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Our assignment at the Paris 2024 Paralympics is to wipe the shame of Nigerians by winning gold medals.

“The Sports Minister, Senator John Enoh has been in touch with the para powerlifters since we began our local camping. We were together with the Sports Minister at the Federal House of Representatives when they donated 100 million naira to support the Olympic dream. The lifters are going to repay the minister with an excellent result”.

Ezenwanne urged Nigerians to pray for the paralympians as they prepare for the task ahead.

He said, “We have done our part by preparing hard for the games, all the para-athletes want is for the nation to put them in prayers to be spiritually guided”.
