Remo Stars Ladies and Edo Queens claimed routine home wins on match day five of the 2024-25 Nigeria Women Football League campaign on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

High-flying Remo Stars Ladies defeated Abia Angels 2-0 thanks to a brace from in-form striker Bolaji Olamide. The win kept the unbeaten Sky Blue ladies at the top of Group A with 13 points.

In Benin, defending champions Edo Queens also defeated Nasarawa Amazons 2-0. Mary Mamudu and Goodness Osigwe scored in two first-half minutes to move up to second spot in the Group.

Also in Group A, Ekiti Queens made lightwork of pointless Confluence Queens with a 2-0 win. Rashidat Salau scored the game’s opening goal just before the hour mark before Patience Yaro made the points safe in stoppage time. In the final game of the group, it finished goalless between Dannaz Ladies and Heartland Queens in Owerri.

GROUP B

The heavyweight clash between Rivers Angels and Bayelsa Queens ended in a 1-1 draw in Port Harcourt. Peace Effiong’s 10th minute opener was cancelled out by Zainab Olapade (Bayelsa United) three minutes before the half-hour mark. Based on the result, Bayelsa Queens retained their spot at the top of the group by virtue of a superior goal difference.

In Lagos, Robo Queens beat Ibom Angels 2-1 to stay in touch with the top two. Mariam Yahaya scored first for Robo in the 68th minute, and they then doubled their lead via an own-goal from Godsgift Afigbediotor in the 78th minute. However, Ugobest Osuji grabbed a consolation for the visitors six minutes from time.

First-half goals from Loveth Boiygyande and Mary Nnenna Ossai helped Adamawa Queens stroll past point-less Benue Queens in Gombe.

Meanwhile, Naija Ratels and Delta Queens played out a 1-1 draw in Abuja. Bunmi Oladeji scored for the hosts in the 7th minute before it was cancelled out by Ifobere Destiny two minutes later for the former champions.
