Former MFM FC midfielder Chukwuka Onuwa was the saviour for Enyimba as the People’s Elephant beat Remo Stars 1-0 on a day Heartland FC surrendered their 100% record at home in the 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

Onuwa came on as a 73rd minute substitute as the hosts continued to labour against their newly promoted visitors before scoring the winner ten minutes later, tapping home Ibrahim Mustapha’s square pass to round off a move he started.

Also in Group A, Kwara United edged Wikki Tourists 1-0 in Ilorin. Forward Segun Alebiosu scored the only goal from the penalty spot in the 25th minute. The game of the week however took place at the Agege Stadium in Ilorin where group leaders MFM FC came from two goals down to beat Niger Tornadoes 3-2.

Peter Abashiya and Jonathan Osondu gave the visitors a 2-0 lead inside the opening ten minutes but defender Abisoye Olawale pulled a goal back on the dot of half time. Striker Michael Ohanu brought them back to level terms on 52 minutes before Chuks Kennedium won it in stoppage time.

In Group B, Hearland FC surrendered their 100% record at home to group leaders FC Ifeamyiubah who came from behind to hold them to a 1-1 draw in Okigwe. Joshua Akhabue gave Heartland the lead in the 16th minute when he headed home Uche Oguchi’s cross but captain Chijioke Alaekwe equalised for the visitors to earn them a point which separates them from the rest.

El-Kanemi Warriors climbed to second after Innocent Gabriel’s 78th minute goal gave them a 1-0 win over Abia Warriors in Maiduguri in the battle of the Warriors.

Plateau United returned to winning ways in a 1-0 win against Go Round – Jesse Akila with the goal – while Rabiu Ali and Chinedu Sunday were on target again for Pillars in their 3-1 win over Yobe Desert Stars in Kano.
