All four rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) games on Wednesday ended in 1-0 wins for the home team’s with attacker Wasiu Jimoh’s last gasp effort against Remo Stars sending his side Rivers United to the summit of the Group A table.

The game in Port Harcourt was poised to end in a 0-0 draw especially after United’s former Super Eagles defender Kunle Odunlami was sent off for violent conduct late in the game but former Shooting Stars forward Jimoh slid home Bright Onyedikachi’s flick on in the 95th minute.

In Damaturu, Yobe Desert Stars secured a second successive win at home following a 1-0 win over North East rivals Gombe United. Abdullahi Usman scored what turned out to be the winner in the twelfth minute, latching onto Uche Okeke’s brilliant cross to finish beyond Emmanuel Daniel in goal for Gombe.

In Enugu, Nigeria’s Cup champions Rangers wrapped up preparations for this weekend’s CAF Confederation Cup group stage game with a second 1-0 win in four days, this time Niger Tornadoes their victims. In-form winger Bright Silas scored the game’s only goal in the first half to take Rangers to second spot in Group A behind Rivers United even with two games in hand.

In Gombe, newly promoted Bendel Insurance suffered their first defeat of the campaign when they succumbed to a 0-1 loss to Wikki Tourists who now play their home games at the Pantami Stadium. Suleiman Mohammed capitalised on a defensive mix-up to give the Tourists the full marks.

The other Match Day One game still on hold will be decided on Thursday at the KrisDera Hotel Stadium in Omoku where Go Round FC will entertain Kada City. Match Day six games will take center stage on Sunday.
