Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, has disclosed that clinching the CAF Champions League ticket at the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Super Six is his side’s primary ticket.
The season-ending Super 6 championship will take centre stage in Lagos starting this weekend and ahead of his side’s first game, Ogunmodede has revealed what the target is for the Sky Blue Stars.
“Personally, we have not too much target for the Super 6. One, to win all our five games; secondly, to qualify for the (CAF) Champions League and we will see what happen thereabout,” the tactician told the club’s media on Friday.
“Presently, we are so much ready for the competition. We quite understand and know it is a different game having the best six teams in the country competing for a goal. We are well prepared psychologically and we know what is at stake.
The former Remo Stars youth team coach also went on to disclose that defender Isah Ali and striker Franck Mawuena will not be playing a part in the tournament following their recent recovery from injuries.
“Nevertheless, we have some injury worries. Unfortunately, we think we could have Isah Ali, but he might not be ready for the Super 6. We also have one of our strikers, Franck Mawuena – a foreigner, he will also not be available because he is just coming back from injury.
“Apart from these two key players, every other person is ready. The management team have been doing their part, the players their part, the technical crew and the backroom staff. For sure, we are going to the competition to compete,” he concluded.
Remo Stars finished second in Group A to book their spot at the Super 6 and will compete against Bendel Insurance, Enyimba, Rivers United, Lobi Stars, and Sunshine Stars for the 2023 NPFL title and continental slots.
