The Match Day 15 action of the NPFL produced some exciting results as Shooting Stars claimed a big win over Gombe United in Ibadan, while Niger Tornadoes also pummeled Abia Warriors by a similar scoreline.

The Oluyole Warriors have picked form recently and duly made it count by firing three past their visitors. Malomo Taofeeq got the opener, while the NPFL-returning Alao Danbani and midfielder Douglas Achiv got the other goals in the second half. It is the biggest win of the season for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side.

Meanwhile, the action started on Saturday at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium in Benin where Insurance edged El Kanemi Warriors 2-1 to return to winning ways, with Ismael Seriki and Austin Ogunye scoring for the league leaders in the 54th and 58th minute respectively. El Kanemi got a consolation goal via Hussaini Mohammed’s spot-kick goal.

In the battle for a top-three finish in group A between Enyimba and Remo Stars, Chijioke Mbaoma scored a late goal to deny Remo Stars valuable three points in Aba. Phillips Odubia scored for the Sky Blue Stars in the first half before the grandstand finish to the game.

In Kaduna, Niger Tornadoes moved level on points with Rivers United (23) after a commanding 3-0 win over Abia Warriors. In-form Munir Idris bagged his second brace in two games before David Okoromi sealed all three points with a goal of his own.

David Onovo’s 22nd-minute goal was the difference as Sunshine Stars beat Lobi Stars at the Ondo State Sports Complex to claim their first win of the second stanza.

In other centers, second-placed Doma United got one better over Bayelsa United with a 2-1 victory, while Plateau United defeated Nasarawa via Nenrot Silas’ goal in the opening quarter of the game. The game between Wikki Tourists and Rivers United was postponed due to the Pride of Rivers fulfilling their Continental duties in the CAF Confederation Cup.

There is a double-header to come in Uyo on Monday as Akwa United and Dakkada will host Kwara United and Enugu Rangers respectively.
