Akwa United head coach John Obuh inched closer to the exit door after Lagos based side MFM FC thrashed his wards 3-0 in the first game of Match Day 8 in the 2019/20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season on Friday.

Obuh has been under intense pressure for the past weeks after his side failed to win any of their first seven games but a comprehensive win over Adamawa United last Sunday seemed to have given the coach some more hope.

However, the Promise Keepers capitulated in an incredible manner, aided by an erratic performance by goalkeeper Itodo Akor at the Agege Township Stadium with MFM FC recording their first home win of the season.

Clement Ogwu gave MFM the lead in the 42nd minute from the penalty spot after Akor had fouled his strike partner Kabiru Adeniji.

The Tony Bolus led side however added two more goals in the second half through winger Alade Balogun who netted his first goals of the season for the Church side after coming on as a 69th minute substitute.

To add insult to injury, there was a bust up between Akwa head coach Obuh and his forward Ndifreke Effiong late in the first half fuelling insinuations that the former Flying Eagles coach may have lost the respect of some of his players.

Ndifreke has annoyed Obuh, he looks at his bench and says; "I will bring him out of there o! What kind of nonsense is this?"

Obuh was shouting instructions to the @NGSuperEagles player, but he shows disrespect to his coach with dissent. #YourSportsMemo

United will now return home to Uyo to prepare for their next league game on Wednesday against Rivers United. It remains to be seen, what becomes of Obuh in the coming days.
