NPFL side, Nasarawa United on Wednesday unveiled their new signings to the media in Lafia, Nasarawa state capital, www.aclsports.com reports.

The Solid Miners made their return to the top flight following promotion from the second division before the start of the season, but life in the elite division has left much to be desired. The side is currently bottom of the league standings with 16 points from 19 games and was recently hit with a three-point deduction for a referee’s assault in their last home game against Rivers United.

Nasarawa United have signed eight players to help their relegation fight as the #NPFL25 is set to resume.

In a bid to salvage what is left of their season, the club has now moved to strengthen the team ahead of the resumption of the 2024/25 NPFL season on 25th January.

Veteran midfielder and former youth international Abubakar Aliyu, who played for Shooting Stars in the first stanza, leads the list of new arrivals at the Lafia-based club. Others include Abbey Benson from Shooting Stars, Peace Dewan (Sunshine Stars), Solomon Chigozie (Kwara United), Emmanuel Onyeama (Ikorodu City), and Benjamin Jack (Golden Boot FC, Benin). Former players – Peter Eneji and striker Ugochukwu Leonard – rejoined from Busaiteen FC of Bahrain, and Heartland FC of Owerri respectively.

Speaking at the unveiling, the Club Chairman, Solomon Babanjah, said, “We are absolutely delighted to welcome these exceptional players to Nasarawa United FC. This is a major statement of intent from the Club, and we are confident that these signings will help us achieve our goals in the second stanza of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League Campaign.

Speaking also, the Technical Director of Nasarawa United, Kabir Dogo, noted that the arrival of the new players would be a turning point for the club.

“We are so excited to see the impact these new signings will have on our squad in this second segment of the league. We are very confident that they will help us to compete at the highest level and bring success to the Club,” the former Kwara United handler said.

The Solid Miners are expected to unveil a few more players in the coming days before their match day 20 game against Katsina United on Saturday, 25th January 2025, at the Lafia City Stadium.
