The attacking duo of Kabiru Adeniji and Michael Ohanu, were on target again as Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries football club, MFM, extended their lead in Group A after match day 10 in the NPFL on Wednesday.

Adeniji and his strike partner, Ohanu scored in either half as the Olukoya Boys claimed a 2-0 victory and bragging rights in the Southwest derby against Sunshine Stars at Soccer Temple, Agege, Lagos.

Adeniji opened the scoring three minutes from the break to put the home side ahead, before Ohanu’s intelligent flick after the hour mark sealed the victory.

Both sides went into the sixth Southwest derby first and second respectively on the table, with just three points separating them..

However, despite all the expectations, a listless first half performance from both teams was settled by a well struck Adeniji effort from just outside the Sunshine Stars box with three minutes left in the first half to hand the home side a narrow lead at the break.

The goal was Adeniji’s third at home and fourth of the season in what has been a superb start to his maiden season in the Nigeria Professional Football League, NPFL.

After the restart, both sides continued from where they stopped in the first half, creating little chances as both goalkeepers were hardly tested.

Adeniji had a chance to grab his second of the match midway through the second half but missed from six yards out with just goalkeeper, Ayo Ojo, at his mercy.

But it did not take long before Ohanu doubled the home side’s advantage as he got to the end of an excellent low cross from Akuneto Chijioke and superbly finished with a stunning flick.

GOOOAALLL!!! Micheal Ohanu doubles MFM's lead with a beautiful flick beyond Ayo Ojo in goal for Sunshine Stars.

Meanwhile, Sunshine Stars had chances of their own, but had to wait until the 88 minutes to properly test Folarin Abayomi in goal for MFM with a free kick the goalkeeper did well to parry to safety.

Fidelis Ilechukwu side held for the win and all three points which see them move up to 18points, extending their lead at the top of the table to four points.

For Sunshine Stars, the drop to third with that result with 12points, two behind second placed Enyimba, who leapfrogged them thanks to a 2-0 win over Katsina United in Aba.
