The League Management Company (LMC), organisers of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) have announced new dates for Match Day 17 and 18 of the 2018/19 season, www.aclsports.com reports.

Match Day 17 of this season’s competition was earlier slated for this weekend (April 28, 2018) but the matches have been postponed due to the involvement of many elite division sides in the State FA Cup grand finale billed for this Sunday across the country.

The LMC have now informed clubs of a new arrangement which will enable them adjust their schedule accordingly. In the dispatch to the clubs made available to www.aclsports.com on Wednesday, Match Day 17 games have been postponed by a week to May 4 and 5, 2019.

Subsequently, Match Day 18 matches originally billed for May 5 have been shifted by three days to Wednesday May 8, 2019. The release reiterated that the regular league season will still end as scheduled on May 26, 2019.

Meanwhile, the rescheduled Match Day 9 game between Rivers United and Rangers has been moved forward by a day to May 2. The game billed for the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt was earlier rescheduled for May 1 but has been pushed a little forward as the previous date is being observed as Workers’ Day.

With six round of matches left in the abridged league format of the NPFL, 2016 league champions Rangers International and 2017 Cup kings Akwa United are sitting top of Groups A and B respectively.
