Nigeria Premier Football League side Kwara United have confirmed the appointment of Ashifat Suleiman as the club’s head coach until the end of the 2025/26 season, www.aclsports.com reports.
Ashifat, who has been in charge temporarily, has now been given the nod until the end of the current season, with an option for an extension.
The unveiling ceremony took place on Wednesday at the club’s office, with Chairman Kumbi Titiloye represented by the club’s General Manager, Mallam Bashir Badawiy.
“Badawiy spoke about the trust of the management has in Suleiman’s ability to lead the team to success, noting the positive influence he has had in his short time in charge. In his remarks, Coach Ashifat Suleiman expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to work closely with his technical crew to achieve the club’s objectives. He stated that his target is to retain the Federation Cup and go all out to win the league this season,” reads a statement from the club’s media department.
Ashifat replaces Tunde Sanni, who was sacked after the Harmony Boys failed to reach the next round of the CAF Confederation Cup and also lost to Abia Warriors in Ilorin.
During his interim stint, Ashifat led Kwara United to a loss to Kano Pillars before picking a point at Wikki Tourists, and he led the side to their first win in four games with a victory over Katsina United in Ilorin last Sunday. The Harmony Boys are 10th on the log with 12 points from nine games.
Kwara United will be the guests of Rangers in Enugu on Match Day 10, as they hope to move up the table.
