Fatai Osho, the Chief coach of Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) champions Rivers United has resigned from the club, www.aclsports.com reports.

In a brief post on his social media account, Osho, who is the club’s second-in-command in technical affairs did not give details of the reasons for his decision but communicated it in clear tone to his fans.

“I resigned my position as the Chief Coach of Rivers United FC. Best wishes to the team,” wrote Fatai Osho in a post on his official Facebook page.

ACLSports sources revealed that Osho, a former coach of Enyimba FC and Remo Stars decided to resign from his post due to what he felt was a spell of disrespect and contempt by the club management especially from the General Manager, Okechukwu Kpalukwu.

The coach who has the Nom de plume “Sugar Ball” resigned and subsequently left the team while on their road from Kaduna where they held Niger Tornadoes to a 0-0 draw yesterday in the NPFL and en route to Jos, venue of Wednesday’s rescheduled game against Lobi Stars.

Rivers State’s Commissioner for Sports, Honourable Christopher Green however stated that he is yet to be notified officially by the coach.

“I have not received any letter to that effect but I must say that someone told me less than an hour ago,” the successful Sports administrator told www.aclsports.com

“I wish him the best if that is how he (Osho) wants to do it but there should be processes to things like that,” added Green.

Osho joined Rivers United before the start of the 2021/2022 football season as assistant to the longest serving coach in the league Stanley Eguma and was instrumental to the team’s first league triumph in eleven years.

This is bad news to the club that is set to breaking records! This is supposed to be when the club will be united for success. The GM should know his limits if he doesn’t want have a divided team and in the end lose the huge investments the Rivers State government has put in. I personally want to feel the situation must have been terrible. Is it possible the GM assaulted his coach? Fatai Osho might not have been able to be patient enough to put whatever forward to Chris Green before throwing in his towel towards the club, because of the emotions behind his actions. Terrible football administrators, if this report is true. They insult their players, coaches and lawyers even when they are the ones that are wrong😡!
