NPFL club side Doma United have announced the dissolution of their backroom staff just days before their 2026/27 season opener, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Savannah Tigers are returning to the elite division for the first time since going on relegation in 2024. However, they have been poor in pre-season, and the club has now decided to let the backroom staff go just six days before their match-day one clash against Sporting Lagos.
”As part of our effort to uphold professional standards befitting this club’s ambitions, we wish to officially announce the dissolution of our backroom staff,” the club announced in a statement on X on Tuesday.
”Confirmed by our Chairman during an emergency meeting held with all staff members, the Chairman explained that this measure has become necessary to enable the club to operate and function in a manner consistent with professional football management.
The club went ahead to confirm that those relieved of their duties in the first team will be redeployed to the youth team in no distant time.
”We can also confirm that staff members who may not continue with the first team will not be left without a role. They will be retained and redeployed to work with our youth team, in line with the club’s commitment to developing talent at every level.
From all indications, the Sporting Director, Akin Maxwell, has been tasked with the responsibility of restructuring the backroom department as quickly as possible.
Meanwhile, Doma United will host Sporting Lagos at the Pantami Stadium in Gombe for their first game of the new season.
