Shooting Stars striker Sikiru Alimi is aware of the challenge in front of his side as they prepare to face Remo Stars in a Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Match Day 13 encounter in Ibadan this Sunday.

Both teams clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium for the second leg of their meeting this season on Easter Sunday with Remo winning the reverse fixture in Ikenne.

Alimi, who scored eight top-flight goals for Remo Stars last season told www.aclsports.com he expects a tough game from the Sky Blue Stars.

“There was a lot of rivalry between both sides last season, which I was at the other end. Luckily, I’m experiencing the same fixture from this end. Definitely, it’s going to be an intense and interesting game; both teams are coming in with different results, which will have an impact on the game on Sunday. So, I want to implore the fans to come out in full, as their support will really mean a lot going forward,” said the former Warri Wolves striker.

The Oluyole Warriors have never beaten the Ikenne side in the NPFL before and all of their past meetings in Ibadan have ended in a 1-1 draw.

The forward, who missed a chunk of the season due to injury, is still searching for his first Shooting Stars goal. Despite missing from the spot last match day in Akure, the striker believes he will get it right with time.

“No hard feelings, it would be business as usual; but, I will continue to search until I get it right,” he added.

On Shooting Stars’ recent wins over Plateau United and Kwara United, Alimi believes it is a reward for their hard work before the second stanza got underway.

“There are no mincing words, we really worked hard for these results and form, and I hope we continue in this fine form. We are fully prepared for Sunday’s game and we will approach it as every other game.

“As we have stated from the beginning, we just want to finish in a very appreciable position, anything more would be an achievement for us, and we would celebrate it,” the former Sunshine Stars forward concluded.

Sunday’s meeting between the South-West giants in Ibadan is one of the games to watch in the NPFL this Easter weekend, as we approach the home stretch of the season.
