Akwa United stunned Plateau United 2-1 to claim the biggest win in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.

It was match day 27 in the 2023/24 NPFL season and a lot of outstanding results were produced but the one in Jos stood out.

2021 league champions Akwa United, who are currently fighting hard to beat the drop, recorded their first away win of the season following an impressive performance against the Peace Boys in Jos.

Cameroonian Gerome Heutchou opened the scoring for the Promise Keepers in the 10th minute before Sunday Anthony equalized from the spot 15 minutes later. However, mid-season recruit Suleiman Sani scored from the spot in stoppage to continue his impressive form and lead Akwa to a crucial win.

Kwara United defeated Enyimba 2-1 in Ilorin. Emmanuel Ogbole scored either side of Ikenna Cooper’s equalizer to steer the home side to a win. Katsina United also defeated Abia Warriors in Katsina to claim another routine home win.

Lobi Stars dropped to second spot following a 1-1 draw with Bayelsa United in Lafia. Sunday Chinedu opened the scoring for the home side after the hour mark before Kehinde Malik equalized for the visitors late on.

In the day’s final game, Remo Stars scored twice in the final ten minutes to beat stubborn Bendel Insurance in Ikenne. Olamilekan Adedayo and Haruna Hadi with the goals as the Sky Blue Stars enter the top three on the log.

The match-day’s final game will be played between Niger Tornadoes and Shooting Stars on Monday in Kaduna.
