Rivers Hoopers staged a second-half comeback to beat Hoops & Read 68-58 for their third win of the NPBL Final 8 playoffs on Tuesday at the Basketball Stadium in Port Harcourt, www.aclsports.com reports.
The Hoopers overcame a slow start to make it three wins from three games. Francis Anekwe led the way with 16 points, three rebounds and two assists, while Buchi Nwaiwu added 13 points and three rebounds. Omar Abada marked his KingsMen debut with nine points, five assists and two steals.
Maktown Flyers continued their title defence with a 67-61 victory over Lagos Raptors. Patrick Abah led the way with 20 points, eight rebounds and five steals, while Mohammed Keita added 19 points, six rebounds and three steals as Maktown moved to 3-0 in the playoffs.
Gboko City Chiefs recorded their second consecutive victory with an 81-66 win over 313 Warriors. Oliver Hampton finished with 20 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Augustine Richard contributed 15 points and six rebounds. John Matthias had 12 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks for 313 Warriors, who suffered their first defeat of the playoffs.
Aso Skyhawks returned to winning ways with an emphatic 89-58 victory over Kano Pillars. AK Coulibaly led the Skyhawks with 19 points and seven rebounds, while Emagba Abolaji added 13 points, three rebounds and three assists. Odufuwa Kanyinsola had 10 points and nine rebounds, while Kano Pillars’ Emmanuel Abdullahi scored 14 points, including three three-pointers, as his side suffered their third straight defeat.
