Coach of Victory Spikers VC of New Karu, Linus Bulama said his team will shock bigger clubs at the forthcoming 2023 Abuja Invitational Volleyball Challenge.
The 2023 Abuja Invitational Volleyball Challenge is organised by the Chairman of Nigeria Park Volleyball Commission, Major General Taritimiye Gagariga and is scheduled to take place in the first quarter of the year.
Bulama said his team is filled with young players who are ready to showcase themselves to the world.
He told www.aclsports.com that 80% of the players are yet to feature in the volleyball leagues organised by the Nigeria Volleyball Federation.
The LifeCamp VC member said, “I have confidence in my young side that they can beat the bigger clubs side at the forthcoming 2023 Abuja Invitational Volleyball Challenge. If you will recall, Victory Spikers lost one match to Games Village (2-1 major set) and another three points to Defense Spikers due to protest at the 2022 Kontagora Invitational Challenge.
“Victory Spikers narrowly missed the semi-final slot finishing in 5th position. We want to better our performance this time around and send a strong signal to the Nigeria Volleyball community.
“The young players are energetic and want to sell themselves to clubs participating in the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League as well as National Division 1 and 2 Volleyball League. They are ripe and it will be a plus for the management if they play in the top flight league”.
Bulama who was part of the coaching crew that led Spartan Spikers to the Nigeria Volleyball Premier League, commended Major General Taritimiye Gagariga for making the players engage in volleyball activities at the beginning of the year.
He said, “The Challenge will be an avenue for breeding young and relatively unknown players. I am optimistic that some of young players discovered will stand chances of representing Nigeria at future African underage Championships”.
