Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon, has scored his first goal in the colours of the newly promoted Ligue 1 side, Paris FC, in their heavy 5-2 loss at Marseille on Saturday evening, www.aclsports.com reports.

Simon, 30, who left Nantes for the capital club in the summer, scored his side’s second goal in the game decided at Stade Velodrome. It was always going to be difficult for Simon and his side against Roberto De Zerbi’s side, who finished second behind champions PSG last term.

In the space of six first-half minutes, Marseille raced into a two-goal lead through goals from Mason Greenwood and the returning Pierrre-Emerick Aubameyang in the 18th and 24th minutes respectively. Paris got themselves a goal back through Illan Kebbal in the 28th minute, as they look to stage a comeback in the game. However, the hosts took the lead into the break.

After the interval, Simon was on hand to restore parity for his side with a goal just before the hour mark. Kebbal, the goalscorer of the first goal, turned provider by sending the Super Eagles winger through on goal, who then fired a low strike into the back of the net for the leveler.

The goal woke the hosts up, as they upped the ante and scored three goals in the last 20 minutes to secure their first win of the season. Aubameyang completed his brace in the 73rd minute before former Tottenham midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg added Marseille’s fourth goal in the 81st minute. Former Manchester United man Greenwood missed a late penalty, but he was on hand to set up substitute Robinio Vaz for the game’s seventh goal in stoppage time.

It is Marseille’s first win of the season after last week’s defeat at Rennes, while Simon and Paris have lost their opening two Ligue 1 games of the season following last week’s narrow 1-0 loss at Angers.

Les Blues will host Metz in their next Ligue 1 game before the September FIFA International window. Meanwhile, Simon has been called up to Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa.
