Sevilla and Super Eagles forward, Akor Adams, was on hand to steer his side to a comfortable 4-0 win over Real Oviedo on Sunday, www.aclsports.com reports.
The forward, who last scored in the win over Barcelona in early October, ended a goal drought of eight games in all competitions for his side as they claimed a routine win over the struggling visitors.
Akor Adams started the game alongside Alexis Sanchez in a two-man attack for Sevilla, while his compatriot Chidera Ejuke settled for a place on the bench. It was an important fixture for the Seville outfit, who were looking for their first league win since early November.
Sevilla made a great start to the contest as Adams put them ahead in the fourth minute after latching onto a fine through ball from Lucien Agoume. In the 22nd minute, Djibril Sow doubled the home side’s lead to put them in the driving seat in the contest. Adams’ cutback was deflected onto the goalscorer’s path.
After the break, Adams turned provider for Batista Mendy to increase the home side’s lead with a composed finish in the 51st minute.
Ejuke came on for Sanchez in the final 13 minutes of the encounter, but there was still time for him to grab his first league goal of the season in the 89th minute. The former Gombe United winger weaved past two defenders before firing past the goalkeeper.
On the other hand, Adams, with the goal, took his season tally to three goals in 14 La Liga appearances for the Andalusian club.
The duo, who have been named in Eric Chelle’s AFCON squad, are expected to immediately team up with the rest of the team in Cairo as part of preparations for the continental tournament.
