In a bold move to secure the future of volleyball in Kenya, the Kenya Prison Volleyball Club has announced plans launch of a volleyball academy for young talents in 2025.
This initiative aims to nurture and develop vibrant, skilled players who will represent Kenya both nationally and internationally.
In a statement shared with www.aclsports.com, the head coach of the Kenya Prison Queens, Josp Barasa expressed his excitement for the new program.
Barasa described it as one of the most significant steps the club has taken to elevate Kenya’s volleyball standards.
The statement read, “Our goal is simple, we want to discover, nurture and train young players (boys and girls) ensuring they are equipped with the skills to shine on the international stage.
“This academy will serve as a platform for young talents to grow and represent Kenya with pride, raising our flag high wherever they play.
“With the support of key sponsors, the academy will provide the resources and guidance needed to train the next generation of volleyball stars.
Coach Barasa emphasized that this new chapter for the Kenya Prison Volleyball Club is not only about developing players but also about ensuring the growth of volleyball across the country.
The statement further read, “The academy will focus on training, developing techniques, and molding the skills of future stars, giving young athletes the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Club is confident that this program will help bring Kenya back to its rightful place among the top international volleyball teams.
The Kenya Prison Volleyball Club’s men’s team won the 2023/2024 Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League while the women’s team finished second place.
