Nigeria’s 400m runner, Yinka Ajayi, aired her disappointment of not having her coach present in London, which was a major reason she was knocked out in the semifinals, at the ongoing IAAF World Championships.

The quatermiler had come into the Championships with great hopes of running a faster time than her Personal Best (PB) of 51.30s, and at least make the final.

However, things were not meant to be for the Championship debutant, who arrived just a day before her first race due to visa delays. In her race, she clocked a time of 51.58s to place 3rd in her Heat, before going on to record a slower time of 52.10s in the semifinals.

Speaking after her race to AthleticsAfrica, Ajayi said “I wish my coach was with me, I believe I would have run faster. I wish my coach Akeem was here, I would have done more better. In the relays, I believe we would do better, because our team is very strong.”
