Handball: Kwara, Kogi, Lagos win big on Day 2

Kwara, Kogi and Lagos States won their respective matches on the day two of the National Under-18 and 21 Handball Championship in Lagos.

Kwara State beat Lagos State 46-35 in the Under-21 female and defeated Rising Stars of Abuja 32-27 in the male category at Rowe Park, Yaba.

The Harmony girls who boast of some current National Under-18 players led Lagos 20-18 in the first half. On resumption of the second half, Kwara outran Lagos as Wuraola Nuhu gunned down Lagos with her accurate shots on goal.

Meanwhile, Rising Stars of Abuja led Kwara boys 14-12 in the first half of the Under-21 male game. They eventually lost by 5 points after missing some crucial goals.

After losing to Mindscope of Ota by 26-25 on Day 1, Lagos Under-18 female team bounced back with a 27-15 win over Kogi State. The Centre of excellence team trailed by 7-12 in the first half but turned the corner with a brilliant second half.

In the Under-21 male game, Lagos saw off a stubborn Bayelsa State by 33-27.
Kogi State beat upcoming Future Pro 34-28 in an explosive encounter. The first half ended in a tie 13-13 but the Confluence boys won the game from the bench, all thanks to the head coach, Peter Philip.

Day 3 fixtures:
U-21 male: Future Pro vs FCT (8am)
U-21 male: Kwara vs Lagos
U-21 male: Bayelsa vs Nasarawa
U-18 female: Kogi vs Future Pro
U-18 female: Mindscope vs Lagos
