Six Nigerian-born players will play for Adjidja HC of Benin Republic at the 45th African Handball Club Championship in Morocco. The 45th African Handball Club championship is scheduled for the 10th to 19th, 2024 in Laayoune, Morocco.

The Nigeria players are Ibrahim Dikko (African Games Bronze medallist), Owolabi Ibrahim Adio, Hakeem Salami (African Games Bronze medallist), Christian Foloki (African Games Bronze medallist), Samson Sunday and Suliamon Azeez.

Adjidja HC in Pool D will face FAP (Cameroon), Widad Smara (Morocco) and Asfa (Senegal).

2023 Béninoise League Champion, Ibrahim Dikko told www.aclsports.com that the team will improve on last season’s performance at the African Club Championship.

The African Games bronze medallist revealed that the first target set by the coaching crew is to come out from the group stage.

Dikko who is attending his third African Club Championship noted that his teammates must work together if they stand a chance of achieving their goals.

He said, “At the last edition, Adjidja HC lost in the quarter-finals and came out 5/6 respectively. The coaching crew has told us to improve our performance and get to the semifinals if possible. The team has learned lessons from our previous outings at the Club Championships.

“Our first target is to come out of the group stage and fight it out in the next stage”.

“I have attended two African Club Championships since I began handball. My first Club Championship was with former Nigeria Champions, Kano Pillars while my second appearance was with Adjidja HC. I am optimistic that the experience gathered will be instrumental to the club side but you know handball is a team sport we all have to work together to achieve our goals”, he added.

Meanwhile, youngster Christian Foloki expressed joy in making the list of players for the African Club Championship with Adjidja HC.
