The Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWF) on Friday confirmed that the Governor Nyesom Wike Wrestling Championship has been moved.

The Technical Director, Damian Ohaike told aclsports.com that the new date for the championships is November 23rd to 30th, 2017.

Ohaike said reasons for the adjustment to make the wrestlers and coaches comfortable.

“The earlier date November 9th to 15th, 2017 was moved to make the athletes comfortable”.

“Few days ago, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2018 African Wrestling Championship who has started working round the clock. The Federation officials have to put one or two things together”, he said

Damian Ohaike said 10 weight categories in each of the three styles (Greco-Roman, Freestyle and female wrestling) will feature in the championship and wrestlers selected for the African Championship next year.
