The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup qualification (Africa) second round of games for Group F were played on Saturday in Abidjan.

Nigeria, who lost to Ivory Coast (72-46) on Friday, returned to winning ways by handing a 72-59 sentence on Central Africa Republic (CAR), who have crashed out of the qualification by virtue of the day’s result.

After crushing Rwanda a day ago, Senegal recorded a second successive victory with a 62-38 triumph over Mali, who have also been eliminated.

Ivory Coast knocked out Rwanda 87-60 to sit second behind Cameroon in the race for the best third team.

As things stand, Senegal and Nigeria join already qualified Tunisia and Angola as the African teams to participate in the 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup holding in China in August and September.

One more qualification is required to complete the list to five. It would be decided between Cameroon and Ivory Coast, who will wrap up their qualifiers against Mali on Sunday, while Nigeria and Senegal will play for formality same day, as CAR and Rwanda.

The qualifiers began in November 2017 and will end on Sunday February 24.
