Former national 200 meters Champion, Emmanuel Arowolo has moved his attention to the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships in Doha.

The 17th IAAF World Athletics Championships, Doha 2019 will take place from 27th September to 6th October, 2019.

Emmanuel Arowolo told www.aclsports.com that he will embark on a short recovery process before training a little for the 200 meters event at the World Championships.

He revealed that his target was to also qualify for the 4×100 meters but Nigeria could not secure the qualification team after finishing second.

The Industrial Mathematics graduate said, “What is next on my mind is to recover first after partaking at the African Games in Morocco and start training hard for the World Championships in Doha where I would be running the 200m.

“I feel great winning a silver medal in the 4×100 meters with my teammates, but I am a little disappointed that the nation’s relay team will be missing the World Championships.  The main reason Nigeria reached the finals was to hit the target and qualify for the relays in Doha but it is what it is; we just have to be thankful for the little and injury free competition.

Arowolo disclosed that prior to the 12th African Games in Morocco he picked a minor sprain during training.

He said, “The training sessions was not bad prior before the competition proper because I was doing pretty well in training but during the competition I picked up a minor sprain but was not serious just that I did not recover fully after the relay final”.

When asked if he dreams of making it to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, Arowolo said, “Few weeks I did not know I was going to hit the world championship standard but when you train smart and you believe in your coach and trust God; nothing is impossible and so with the Olympics, I am not doubting myself because I always trust the process”.
