Ligue 1 player of the month, Victor Osimhen and his compatriots in French fired blanks as the French league entered week 10 at the weekend.

It was a very quiet weekend for Super Eagles players following their return from the international break. EiE recaps their performances in the various domestic leagues in Europe.

Despite playing for 90 minutes, Osimhen had a really poor game and failed to add to his tally this season as Lille lost 2-1 to Toulouse.

Samuel Kalu’s return for Bordeaux failed to inspire them to at least a point as they fell 0-1 at home to Saint Etienne with Kalu on the pitch for just 55 minutes, while fellow Nigerian, Josh Maja was an 84th-minute substitute.

Another Nigerian who suffered a defeat in Ligue is Moses Simon, who featured for 68 minutes in Nantes’ 1-0 loss at Metz.

Meanwhile, at Stade Louis II, Henry Onyekuru was nowhere to be found as AS Monaco survived a scare from Rennes to win 3-2. Onyekuru was not listed at all for that game.

In Spain, Ramon Azeez came off the bench to help Granada see off Osasuna on Friday as they continued to impress on their return to LaLiga.

With his side ahead 1-0, Azeez came on just before the hour mark (59th minute) to help his side hold on to their lead with 100% tackles won, 100% aerial duels won and one interception.

For Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem, it was a 2-0 defeat at Getafe for them and Leganes with Omeruo the only one who tasted action, while Awaziem was an unused substitute.

Villarreal defeated Espanyol 0-1 on Sunday with Samuel Chukwueze coming off the bench for just nine minutes.

For the Super Eagles players in England, it was a rare weekend as none tasted defeat, with Wilfred Ndidi, Semi Ajayi and Oghenekaro Etebo all playing for 90 minutes.

With 5 interceptions, one tackle and 6 aerial duels won, Ndidi helped Leicester City to a 2-1 win over Burnley while Ajayi’s West Bromwich Albion continued their push for Promotion with a clean sheet after a 0-1 win away to Middlesbrough.

Etebo and Stoke City were comfortable 2-0 winners over Fulham, with Alex Iwobi on for 87 minutes as Everton defeated West Ham United 2-0 on Saturday in the English Premier League.

Super Eagles hero against Brazil, Joe Aribo was in action for Rangers in the Scottish league as they were held to a 1-1 by their hosts, Hearts.

Aribo played from start to finish for the men in Blue.

Real Madrid slayer, Dennis Bonaventure fired blanks in Club Brugge’s 0-1 win at Royal Excel Mouscron in the Belgian Jupiler.

Paderborn’s search for a first-ever Bundesliga win will wait for another weekend after a 3-0 thrashing at FC Koln.

The Bundesliga newbies were without Super Eagles left-back, Jamilu Collins, who was not even listed for the trip.

In the Serie A, it was a battle between two Nigerians as William Troost-Ekong and Ola Aina went head to head.

Troost-Ekong’s Udinese had the final laugh following a 1-0 win over Aina and Torino but only the centre back was on the pitch of play with Aina an unused substitute.

Anderson Esiti played for 25 minutes as POAK Thessaloniki demolished Lamia 3-0 at home. Esiti was a second half substitute.

Finally, it was a win for Shehu Abdullahi and Bursaspor in the Turkish second division after a 2-1 win over Umranyespor with Shehu on from start to finish.
