Ola Aina was the unlikely scorer and star of the weekend alongside Alex Iwobi, as Super Eagles players went in search of glory with their respective teams in Europe.

Aina’s Torino were at home to William Troost-Ekong‘s Udinese in the Serie A,

The game ended 1-0 in favour of Torino with Aina the hero after his first half strike earned his side a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

He was on the pitch for 89 minutes, winning the most tackles (3) in the match while adding three interceptions and one chance created to his goal, his first of the season.

A superb performance from the Chelsea loanee, who denied Troost-Ekong, who picked up a booking, a clean sheet.

Still in the Serie A, Chievo Verona suffered a humiliating 3-0 demolition on Friday in the hands of AS Roma but did so without their Nigerian midfielder, Joel Obi Chukwuma, who was not listed for the game.

In the English Premier League, Alex Iwobi was the standout Super Eagle as he helped Arsenal to a 2-1 win at Huddersfield Town.

After making the mistake that led to his side conceding first and then losing to Manchester City, Iwobi redeemed himself by getting Arsenal in front against Huddersfield.

His shot was deflected into the net for his third goal of the season before he was substituted with two minutes left on the clock.

Watford were without Isaac Success, who missed his side’s 1-0 win at home against Everton due to an injury.

Brighton & Hove Albion were 3-1 losers at home to Burnley with Leon Balogun also not listed for the encounter.

Leicester City were put 3-1 to the sword at Wembley with their Nigerian duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho featuring.

While Ndidi played from start to finish, Iheanacho lasted just 18 minutes after coming on in the 72nd minute.

In the English second division, Mikel Obi was in superb form for Middleborough as they held league leaders, Leeds United, to a 1-1 draw.

The Super Eagles captain played his first 90minutes for the Riverside club, capping it by winning the most tackles in the game, four, and won two aerial duels.

Rotherham United are still without a win after they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Wigan Athletic with Semi Ajayi featuring in a midfield role for 90minutes.

Ajayi put on a defensive masterclass, winning 100% of his tackles, ten aerial duels, one interception and creating two chances.

Another Super Eagles star who performed well for his side is Oghenekaro Etebo, whose brilliance failed to inspire Stoke City past West Bromwich Albion.

Etebo played from start to finish, completing the most passes (51) in the match, winning 100% of his tackles (4/4) and one interception.

Elsewhere, Jamilu Collins‘ Paderborn secured a 2-1 win at Bochum with the left back on from start to finish.

It was his 21st game of the season, and he made three interceptions, won two tackles and two aerial duels.

Samuel Kalu was missing as Bordeaux lost 1-0 to French champions, Paris St. Germain. He was not listed for their trip to the capital.

John Ogu‘s Hapoel Beer Sheva and their title defense were dealt another blow at the weekend when they were beaten 1-0 at Maccabi Tel Aviv with Ogu playing the duration of the game.

Kenneth Omeruo‘s Leganes shocked Real Betis with an excellent performance in the Spanish La Liga with their Super Eagles defender leading them to a clean sheet.

Omeruo was the heart of the defence, marshalling his teammates as they cruised to a 3-0 win at home to Betis.

Despite picking up a yellow, the Chelsea defender ended with seven clearances.

Meanwhile, Samuel Chukuweze has surely lost his place at Villarreal after yet another cameo. He played for just nine minutes as Villarreal played a 1-1 draw at Real Valladolid.

Turkey
Henry Onyekuru, Galatasaray

Onyekuru was caged for 90 minutes but his club did not need him to breeze past Trabzonspor, who were beaten 3-1 by the Turkish giants.

Shehu Abdullahi, Bursaspor
Abdullahi played his third game of the season, coming on as a second half substitute in Bursaspor’s 2-0 loss at Besiktas. He was on the pitch for 36 minutes.
