Super Eagles B intensified their preparations ahead of next month’s 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), www.aclsports.com reports.
The team’s camp opened on Monday with head coach, Eric Chelle, in charge of the proceedings. It is the final phase of camping before the team will depart the country for the tournament in East Africa.
Following Monday night’s opening session, the team have since continued their preparation with a daily training session (morning and evening) at their base at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne.
In Wednesday’s morning session, 28 players took part following the arrivals of Abia Warriors duo Anthony Ijoma and Sunday Megwo on Tuesday night.
Chelle took charge of the session with assistance from Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu. First assistant Daniel Ogunmodede, who is currently outside the shores of the country on a coaching course, is yet to arrive.
Meanwhile, the goalkeepers – Kayode Bankole, Ani Ozoemena, Badmus Nurudeen and Mustapha Lawal – were taken through their paces by Remo Stars’ goalkeeper coach Dahiru Dalhatu Ilu pending the arrival of Padovani Jean-Daniel.
Players still expected in camp include Adamu Abubakar, Papa Daniel, Adejoh Ojonugwa, Saviour Isaac, Waliu Ojetoye, and Ifeanyi Onyebuchi. However, sources told ACLSports that Ifeanyi Onyebuchi is currently out injured and could miss the tournament altogether.
The 2024 CHAN tournament will be staged in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in August. Nigeria will face Senegal, Sudan, and Congo in their group games.
