The Home-based Super Eagles, also known as Super Eagles B, intensified their preparations ahead the final qualification round of the 2023 African Nations Championship (CHAN) with some test games on Thursday.

The coach Salisu Yusuf-led team played two different local sides in the Federal Capital Territory to continue their preparations ahead of the first leg clash with the Black Galaxies of Ghana in ten days’ time.

Earlier in the day, the team faced Mahanaim FC and it finished 3-2 in favour of the home-based side. Promise Amadi, Chidebere Nwobodo and Ebube Duru scored for the national team, while Baba Aliyu grabbed a brace for the Abuja-based club.

The side then lined up against AS Roma football Academy later in the day; Chiamaka Madu and Chris Nwaeze scored to hand Salisu Yusuf’s men a comfortable 2-0 win. Both games were played at the National Stadium’s Training Pitch, Abuja.

The first leg of the clash with Ghana will take place on August 28 in Cape Coast, while the second leg will be played in Abuja on September 3, 2022.

The winner of the match-up on aggregate will qualify for the African Nations Championship billed to hold in Algeria in January 2023.
