Nigeria’s remaining representative in this year’s Confederation of African Football (CAF) continental competitions, Enyimba will face Ivorian side AC Williamsville at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt next week.

The former CAF Champions League winners have been playing both domestic and continental games this season at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar as they conclude works on their homeground in Aba but CAF, it was learnt have suspended the Calabar stadium based on complaint from opposing teams.

It was reported last weekend that the People’s Elephant will now play at the well managed Nest of Champions in Uyo when the Confederation Cup resume on July 18 but it appears the request has come a little late for CAF to grant.

“CAF just informed us we would indeed play in Port Harcourt. At the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. July 18, 2 pm,” stated a club official on Monday.

Sequel to CAF’s timing of Confederation Cup games – holding at 2 or 7pm -, next Wednesday’s game will hold at the former kick-off time at the stadium which hosted Nigeria’s friendly game against Congo Democratic Republic in May.

This will not be the first time that Enyimba will be playing at the same facility in Port Harcourt. The team played all their home games in the 2016 CAF Champions League at the venue where they beat eventual Champions League winners Mamelodi Sundowns in their final group game on August 18, 2016.

Enyimba are currently third in Group C of the CAF Confederation Cup with three points from two matches. They defeated Malian side Djoliba 2-0 in their first group game before crumbling to a 3-0 defeat at Congolese side CARA Brazzaville.
