Nigerian referees, Alaba Olufunmilayo and Agbons Faith, have been appointed as part of the officiating team for the 2025 WAFU-B CAF Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, www.aclsports.com reports.
Olufunmilayo, a centre referee, and Agbons, who will serve as an assistant referee, are among the 16 match officials, comprising eight referees and eight assistant referees, confirmed by CAF for the regional qualifiers.
The list features top female officials from across West Africa and beyond, including representatives from Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Niger, Togo, Tanzania, and Mali.

Notable names include Gouchodeou Zongbossi Beatrice (Benin), Konan Akissi Natacha Gerardine (Côte d’Ivoire), and Boateng-Nkansah Rita Ama (Ghana), while assistant referees Louis Sonia Emilie Prisca (Benin) and Kouma Ami (Burkina Faso) also made the cut.
The qualifiers are scheduled to run from August 23 to September 4, 2025, in Côte d’Ivoire and will serve as the pathway for clubs in the WAFU-B zone to book their place in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League, Africa’s premier women’s club competition.
For Nigeria, the selection of Olufunmilayo and Agbons further underlines the country’s growing reputation for producing quality match officials at continental and global levels.
