The Chairman of Sokoto State Volleyball Association, Dr Umar Mohammed said Samba Boys will cause major upsets at this year’s National Open Beach Volleyball/Star Tour.

The first phase of the 2023 National Open Beach Volleyball/Star Tour is scheduled for 13th to 19th April at Jabi Lake in Abuja.

Mohammed said measures have been put in place for the young beach volleyball players to excel in the star Tour.

He said, “The players are very much prepared for the challenge ahead; Samba Boys are not pretenders but contenders this time.

“If you follow the results of last season’s matches closely, you will notice that Samba Boys were beaten by close margins in most of their games.

“Samba Boys are determined to upset some teams in the Star Tour; cause panic attacks and palpitations for whoever is facing us. The fear of Samba Boys is the beginning of wisdom.”

Mohammed told www.aclsports.com that Samba Boys stand a better chance of making the Top three teams at the end of the first phase.

He said, “The target is to move from the bottom of the table last season to the top three teams in the first phase.

“Sokoto State Government has been trying its best in their own way to support the volleyball association”, he added.

Bilal Muhammed and Manir Muhammed will represent Samba Boys VC at the 2023 National Open Beach Volleyball/Star Tour.
