African Football: Tanzania unveil Emmanuel Amuneke as coach

Former Super Eagles star, Emmanuel Amuneke has been named as the new manager of the national team of Tanzania. Amuneke was unveiled during a press conference at the New African Hotel in the nation’s capital, Dar es Salaam.

The 47-year-old has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with the Tanzanian Football Federation.

Speaking during the unveil, President of the Tanzania Football Federation [TFF] Wallace Karia, confirmed that the Nigeria will retain his assistant, but with Tanzanians in his coaching crew.

“Amuneke will work with his assistant coach but will have another assistant and the technical crew will be Tanzanians,” President Karia said.

Amuneke’s first assignment will be to oversee the Taifa Stars’ AFCON 2019 Qualifier against Uganda on Saturday, September 8 in Kampala.

The former Barcelona star was until his appointment unemployed, after leaving his position at Sudanese club, Al-Khartoum Watani earlier this year.

Al-Khartoum were fourth place in the 2018 season with 11 points from eight games when Amunike left the club.
