The Super Eagles of Nigeria kicked off their preparations for Saturday’s AFCON quarter-final clash with the Desert Warriors of Algeria with their first training session in Marrakesh, www.aclsports.com reports.

The 2013 AFCON champions, who landed earlier in the day, proceeded immediately to their hotel at Savoy Le Grand Hotel. A few hours later, the team then moved to Grande Stade Annex 2, on the outskirts of the city, for their maiden training session in the Red City.

Apart from Cyriel Dessers and Ryan Alebiosu, who is still recuperating from an injury he sustained against Uganda, the remaining 26  players took part in the session monitored by Eric Chelle. Ademola Lookman and Victor Osimhen, joined by Salim Fago Lawal and Akor Adams, took part in a short shooting practice, with the Atalanta man scoring top marks.

The opening 15 minutes of the session were open to the Press, and Eric Chelle’s Eagles will take to the same pitch starting from 5pm on Friday for their final session before the game.

After winning all their previous four matches at the tournament in Morocco, the two powerhouses will clash at the Grand Stadium of Marrakech on Saturday for a place in the last four. The match has been scheduled to kick off by 5pm.
