Hello guys!
It has been a couple of days since my last diary entry. If you missed it, I recommend checking it out – especially the part where I detailed my ongoing battle with the cold in Fes.
On the pitch, the Super Eagles have kept delivering. Nigeria cruised past the Mambas of Mozambique in the round-of-16 clash, emerging as dominant winners. Eric Chelle’s men will now face Les Fennecs of Algeria on Saturday, with a place in the semi-finals at stake.
As you already know, however, the main talking point has been the ugly on-field incident involving Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman. Although reports suggest the issue has been resolved internally, many fans remain dissatisfied that Osimhen has yet to publicly apologise or address Nigerians over the matter.
Well, Nigeria and drama are 5 and 6. After the players’ issue on the pitch, there has been another bonus row between the Super Eagles and the NFF. Just like the first “distraction,” this one has now been put to bed, with players reportedly returning to training in Fes ahead of Saturday’s blockbuster clash against Algeria. The team is expected to arrive in Marrakesh on Thursday, and that brings me to the main point of this diary.
After a series of battles with apartment change, cold and irregular weather conditions of rain, sun, and cold, we moved to Marrakesh – the Red City. We took a 7-hour train ride from Fes through Rabat and Casablanca to arrive in the tourist capital of Morocco.
One notable thing is the unique architectural design of the place. Wrapped in warm shades of crimson and clay, Marrakech glows beneath the Moroccan sun, its red-washed buildings giving birth to the iconic nickname “The Red City” – a visual signature that continues to mesmerise every visitor, just like it did to me as we went through the city to our apartment.
Far better than what we got in Fes, this Marrakesh base felt almost too perfect – comfortable, spacious, and just what we needed. The only small twist? It sits on the fourth floor of the building, and there’s no elevator. So you really have to think twice before heading downstairs to grab anything. Once you go down, you’d better be sure it’s worth the climb back up.
Before I forget, the cold here feels a lot friendlier, so these next three days should be much kinder on us. Catch you guys again later.
