Nigerian forward Taiwo Lawal scored a brace as Mazatlán claimed a 3–2 comeback win over Juárez on Matchday One of the 2025/2026 Liga MX Femenil Clausura season on Wednesday, www.aclsports.com reports.

Lawal, who joined the club in June 2025 from Turkish side Ünye Gücü FK, was instrumental in the turnaround after Juárez took an early lead through Ella Sanchez in the second minute. The Nigerian attacker restored parity in the 41st minute, finishing calmly to level the scores before half-time.

Juárez went ahead again after the break when Ghanaian midfielder Grace Asantewaa struck in the 67th minute, but Lawal responded swiftly, netting her second goal of the match in the 72nd minute to draw Mazatlán level once more.

The comeback was completed late on as Conni Herrera scored in the 84th minute, sealing all three points for Mazatlán in an entertaining opener.

Elsewhere on Matchday One, Super Falcons duo Chinwendu Ihezuo and Osinachi Ohale both started as Pachuca recorded a convincing 3–0 away victory over Atlas. Ihezuo was substituted in the 58th minute, while a first-half strike from Nina Nicosia, followed by second-half goals from Natalia Nauléon and Marcia García, ensured Pachuca opened their campaign with maximum points.

Pachuca will host Querétaro on Monday, 12 January, while Mazatlán turn their attention to a tricky away fixture against Santos Laguna on Tuesday.
