Pre-tournament favorites, Morocco, have been crowned the champions of the African Championship after a comprehensive 4-0 defeat of West African giants, Nigeria, on Sunday evening at the Complexe Mohamed V in Casablanca.

Zakaria Hadraf scored a brace, with Walid El Karti and Ayoub El Kaabi, who emerged top scorer with nine goals, scoring a goal each to hand Morocco a deserved win over a disjointed Nigeria team.

It was Morocco’s first major title since winning the African Nations cup back in 1976.

The result has left Nigerians disappointed by how the Super Eagles, who also had a man sent off, capitulated to the Moroccans, as they took to their various social media accounts to voice their displeasures.

Here are some of the best reactions to that heavy, ’embarrassing’ defeat and tale of woes from Casablanca.

Coach tactics went wrong. #CHAN2018Final

Odd side. This @NGSuperEagles CHAN team were grinding out results until someone said they should win the cup for Buhari.

Well, Morocco should forget about joining ECOWAS then. Simple respect they don’t have.

This commentator is so desperate for Morocco to win! You can hear it in his voice when Morroco create chances. He is literally trying to shout the ball into the net.#CHAN2018Final

All these players should trek back to Nigeria and be made to wash the white jerseys without hypo.#CHAN2018Final pic.twitter.com/0WP2EHKI5F

Having faith in Okpotu in all these games, only to drop him in the final for someone who hasn't played a single minute. Something stinks.... https://t.co/aaA8REZzLO

Salisu Yusuf score card:

2017 WAFU Cup of Nations final:
Ghana 4-0 Nigeria.

2018 African Nations Championship final:
Morocco 4-0 Nigeria.

Salisu should take full responsibility for this embarrassment. Starting line-up decisions were wrong, you don't change a winning team!

These defenders just subjected Goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye to 90 minutes of corporal punishment. God judge all of dem! #CHAN2018Final
