Philippe Coutinho’s dream of playing for Barcelona is close after the Spanish giants agreed a fee with Liverpool for the Brazilian. Both clubs have agreed a fee in the region of £142million for the 25-year-old playmaker, according to the BBC.

Coutinho’s imminent move to Spain will see the former Inter Milan star become the second most expensive transfer in football history, behind Neymar’s €222million move to Ligue 1 leaders, Paris Saint-Germain.

Liverpool were reluctance to sell their star midfielder, and rejected Barcelona’s three offers for the playmaker, who also handed in a transfer request last summer.

However, the Catalan are now poised to get their man, a situation that has seen fans of the English side having so much to say.

Here are some of the best reactions from Reds’ fans, who are not in any way happy with Coutinho’s inevitable departure from Anfield.

Don’t care who you are or how good you are... no one is bigger than our club. Don’t wanna be here, there’s the door. Glad we’ve got a manager who thinks the same way. Should’ve left on good terms in summer. Leaves now & can’t play Champions League football. Silly. #LFC #Coutinho

Leaving the fans high and dry midway through the season. The same fans that sung your name, backed you till the end, fought for you against every critic and you leave us midway when we needed you the most...Whatever your spite with the club yet us fans deserved better. #Coutinho

If #Coutinho wants to go, then fuck off. #LFC and the people of Liverpool have treated him like a king. He's pulling this injury stunt again. Hate to lose him. But don't treat the club & fans like this.

132 million profit on the player, not a bad bit of business! Onwards.. #Coutinho pic.twitter.com/7roG3y4jF5

I am okay with coutinho going, he has been brilliant for us and despite wanting to leave has been a pro and played superbly. Class act and I wish him well at Barca #coutinho

Thanks for the goals #Coutinho

But it’s a selfish time to be goin”

So I hope we lift the Champions League
