Rivers State Government appoints 13-man committee for 2018 AWC

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike (CON) on Tuesday appointed a 13-man committee for the 2018 Africa Wrestling Championship.
The Rivers State Commissioner for Sports, Hon Boma Iyaye will head the committee.

In a statement signed by Hon Iyaye, the members are to be inaugurated at the Rivers State Government House tomorrow (Wednesday), October 4th.
According to the statement, the President of Nigeria Wrestling Federation, Hon Daniel Igali will serve as the Vice Chairman of the committee while the Director of administration in the ministry of Sports, Stephen Adue is the Secretary.

Other members of the committee include; Commissioner for information, Barrister Emma Okah, Commissioner of Health, Professor Princewill Chike, Commissioner of Culture, Tonye Briggs Onyide, President SWAN, Honour Sirawoo all as members.
Commissioner of Police/Rep member, a Representative of Federal Minister of Sports, Chief Jackson Bidei – (Representative of Nigeria Wrestling Federation), J.J Kio, Protocol/Senior special assistant, Ambassador Koko and Falilat Ogunkoya of Nigeria Olympic Committee.

Nigeria won the right to host the 2018 Africa Wrestling Championships in Paris after a three hours close down meeting beating Tunisia.
The tournament is scheduled to take place in February 7th – 11th next year. It will be the first time Nigeria will be hosting since 1976.
