3rd NYG: Ondo State tops table with 7 medals

Ondo State are currently sitting comfortably on the top of the table with seven medals after day two of the ongoing National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The Sunshine state won Three gold, three silver, and one bronze in the Gymnastics event.

Olawunmi Oluwatobi (male) and Alaran Sandra (female) won gold medal in the Vaulting Exercise while Alaran Sandra gave Ondo her third gold in the floor exercise.

In the girl’s gymnastics event, Babalola won two silver in Vaulting and floor exercises, Olawunmi Oluwatobi got another silver in the boy’s floor exercise while Lasisi Temitope snatched a bronze medal.

Bauchi state is second with two gold medals coming from Aliru Mohammed in the Floor Exercise (Gymnastics event) and Abubakar Ismail 56kg in wrestling.

In third position is Defending champions, Delta State with one silver and one bronze; kogi and Ogun State are jointly fourth having one silver a piece.

Others are; 5th position Akwa Ibom having two bronze medals, 6th Bayelsa state with one bronze, Oyo, Abia and Kaduna all having one bronze.

In the team events, Anambra female Cricket team defeated the host team, Kwara in the opening match school stadium.

The Anambra girls who batted in the  first innings won the games with 86 runs, 15 overs and all out.

While opponents garnered 71 runs in 15 overs and nine wickets in the 2 hour thriller.

In another encounter, Kaduna cricket team also started their campaign on a winning note with a narrow 81 runs against Akwa Ibom’s 80 runs.

Meanwhile, Benue state humbled Anambra Volley Ball female team in the  opener 3- 0; with 25:8, 25:5 and 25: 13 points.
