A total of 339 goals were recorded on Day one at the ongoing second phase of the 2019 Prudent Energy Handball league in Lagos.

Defending champions, Niger United defeated stubborn Plateau Vipers by 26 to 21 goals in an electrifying encounter in the men’s category. The Minna based team led the first half by 7 goals ((16-9) but could not continue their fine run in the second half as the Plateau Vipers upped their game.

Kano Pillars sent a strong message to other teams in the league, beating COAS Shooters 25 to 20 goals. The combination of Emeka Adigwe, Jacob Ayuba, Jamilu Adamu were too strong for the Nigeria Army players. Former National team player, Samora Samuel and Kelvin Dele tried to put COAS Shooters back on track but slipped by three goals in the last two minutes.

The game between Lagos Seasiders and Prison Key boys witnessed a total number of 61 goals as the Lagos based team beat Prison by 36 to 25, while De Defenders beat Kada Stars 27 to 20 goals in the first match of the second phase of the league.
