Super Eagles head coach, Éric Chelle, has declared that his side’s objective in Tuesday’s 2027 AFCON qualifiers matchday two clash with the Djurtus of Guinea-Bissau is to take all three points, www.aclsports.com reports.
Having laboured to a win over Madagascar last Friday, the three-time African champions are in Bissau for their second match of the qualifiers in search of another win on Tuesday.
“We respect them because they are a strong team; I have followed their progress over the years. They also won away in Tanzania on Friday and will be confident playing on home ground tomorrow,” Chelle said at Monday’s pre-match press conference.
“Our objective is to take the three points, and to do that, we must approach the game with a strong mentality. We have to be at our best to earn victory,” the tactician concluded.
For 65 minutes on Monday evening, the Super Eagles had their official training at the match venue, under a light shower of rain, with all 24 invited players, including last Friday’s goalscorer George Ilenikhena, who Chelle said is a doubt for the game, involved in the session.
The 24 September Stadium in Bissau is the venue for the clash between the two teams on Tuesday. Kick-off is by 5pm Nigerian time (4pm local time).
