Super Eagles duo of Victor Osimhen and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, with Flying Eagles skipper Daniel Bameyi, have been nominated by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the 2025 CAF Awards (men’s category), www.aclsports.com reports.

Victor Osimhen, who won a domestic double with Galatasaray last term, returns to the top ten of the best players in Africa after missing out in last year’s edition, won by Ademola Lookman. The former Napoli player recently helped the Super Eagles qualify for the World Cup playoffs after a standout performance on the last day of qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali (Chippa United), who was also nominated last year, will battle South Africa’s Ronwen Williams and Cameroon’s Andre Onana for the Goalkeeper of the Year award.

Both Osimhen and Nwabali starred in the Super Eagles team that fought to claim a Playoff spot in the race to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2026 earlier this month.

Nigeria U20 skipper Daniel Bameyi, who had a decent outing at the last AFCON and the just-concluded World Cup in Chile, has been nominated for the Young Player of the Year award.

Meanwhile, nominees for the other categories – Interclub Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, National Team of the Year, and Club of the Year – were also released by CAF on Wednesday.

The CAF Awards ceremony will honour the players, coaches, and teams that have made a significant impact for the period under consideration of 6 January to 15 October 2025.

A panel of experts made up of CAF Technical & Development Committee members, experienced coaches, CAF Legends and selected media representatives decided on 10 nominees for each category considering the performance in all competitions.

The Awards Gala is expected to take place in Morocco later this year.
