The Federal Ministry of Sports Development has announced August 28, to September 1, 2024 as the new date for the Zonal Elimination of the 8th National Youth Games, which will be held in the six Geo-Political Zones, www.aclsports.com reports.

The new date was confirmed following the arrival of top officials of the Federal Ministry of Sports Development from the Paris 2024 Olympics.

www.aclsports.com gathered that the initial date for the Zonal Elimination was moved due to the protest that rocked the nation between 1st to 10th August, 2024.

The states are expected to participate in the following sports: Baseball, Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Football, Handball, Volleyball, and Rugby.

Yusuf said the state is presenting 142 athletes in 8 sports (boys and girls) to qualify for all the sports.

He said, “Bauchi State contingents are ready for the zonal elimination and will pick the available tickets in the various team sports. Governor Bala Mohammed has given us the necessary support and logistics for the games while the Commissioner for Sports, Salisu Gamawa charged the team to be good ambassadors of the state.

“We want to allow all the team sports to participate because they have been training for a long time. The athletes have promised to be good ambassadors of the state and it is our desire they excel in their respective fields.”
