Iran and South Korea were amongst the heaviest scorers as goals rained in the second round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, WCQ, in Asia on Thursday.

Iran defeated Cambodia 14-0 to record their second biggest ever win in what was also the first match Iranian women were allowed to watch in 40 years.

Karim Ansarifard led the way with four goals, while his strike partner, Sardar Azmoun scored a 57-minute hat-trick before he was substituted.

Midfielders, Mehdi Taremi and Mohammad Mohebi grabber a brace each with centre back, Hossein Kanaani, substitute Mehrdad Mohammadi and Ahmed Nourollahi, who opened the floodgates, joining in on the act with one goal each.

Iran lead Group 2 with six points from two matches, two ahead of closest rivals Iraq, while Cambodia are the whipping boys on one point.

Kim outshines Tottenham star Son

South Korea was another country on a goalscoring spree after taken Sri Lanka apart.

Korea picked up their second win of the qualifiers with a comfortable 8-0 victory thanks to Shin-Wook Kim.

Tottenham star, Heung-Min Son was outshone by his Shanghai Shenhua compatriot, Kim, who scored four goals.

Both scored a first half brace before Kim added yet another brace in the second half with Chang-Hoon Kwon completing the thrashing.

South Korea lead on six points, same as neighbours, North Korea, who are second thanks to their inferior goal difference.

In Group B, China thrashed Guam 7-0 with striker Xu-Yang scoring four goals in the first half.

Xi Yu and Lei Wu were the other scorers in the first half as China lead 6-0 at the break before Guangzhou Evergrande star, Elkeson added a seventh with 15 minutes left to play.

China are joint-leaders in Group B after two matches on six points, same as Syria, who defeated the Maldives 2-1 on the same day but are however top of the group based on their superior goal difference.

Elsewhere, Kyrgyzstan demolished Myanmar 7-0 with Edgar Bernhardt netting a hat-trick, Japan defeated Mongolia 6-0 thanks to goals from six different players.

Australian, Uzbekistan, United Arab Emirates were other countries to enjoy heavy wins after their respective 5-0 victory over Nepal, Yemen and Indonesia.
