2019 Afrobasket Women: D’Tigress to face Tunisia and Cameroon

Afrobasket Women Champions D’Tigress have been drawn with Tunisia and Cameroon in Group B of the FIBA Afrobasket Women 2019 scheduled for August 10th to 18th in Dakar, Senegal.

In the draws conducted in Dakar on Monday July 29th, 12 teams were placed in 4 pots and later grouped into 4 groups of 3 teams each.

First pot had Host Senegal, defending champions Nigeria, and semi finalists of the last edition Mali and Mozambique.

Second pot had Cote d’Ivoire and Angola, third had Tunisia and Cape Verde while the fourth pot had Cameroon, Egypt, DR Congo and Kenya.

While teams in Pot 1 qualified for the draws automatically, DR Congo and Kenya were awarded wild cards while others came through qualifiers.

Each team will take on the two (2) opponents in its respective group in one-leg game in the first round.

Top teams will advance straight to the quarter-finals while second and third place teams will play qualification round for the quarter-finals. The winners will qualify for the quarter-finals.

The winners of the quarter-final will progress to the semi-finals, while the losers will play the classification games for the 5 – 8 Places.

The classification game for Third-Place and the Final will be played on the last day of competition (August 18).

Host Senegal will play against Cote d’Ivoire in the opening game on August 10 at the new Dakar Arena.

Group A: Cote d’Ivoire, Egypt, Senegal
Group B: Tunisia, Cameroon, Nigeria
Group C: Angola, DR Congo, Mali
Group D: Kenya, Cape Verde, Mozambique
