There are strong indications that over 10 Secretaries of the Sports Federations will be redeployed by the Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports, aclsports.com gathered.

Aclsports.com can confirm that the secretaries of basketball, Table Tennis, Tennis, weightlifting, wrestling and para soccer are affected as part of ongoing reforms in the sports sector.

An impeccable source said the affected secretaries of the Sport Federations have been ordered to prepare their handover notes ahead of their redeployment to the Commission. The affected officials will be given this week to effect the handover notes.

Director Tayo Oreweme of Athletics Elite department

While explaining further on the basis for the re-deployment, the source told aclsports.com that “the secretaries are part of the ministry of sports and the federations don’t have any role to play (in their deployment). The secretaries are government appointees because the federations are autonomous,” he said.

“Since the news broke, it has also allegedly sparked intense lobbying for the juicy Federations at the Abuja headquarters of the ministry”.

“There is intense lobbying for federation positions in the ministry at the moment. Some of the workers at the headquarters are also lobbying for federation jobs”

It was learnt that some of the secretaries are not happy with their positions since the ministry reorganised the federations and made new postings last year.

When aclsports.com visited the Federations secretariats most secretaries were seen compiling past events of their respective federations as well as penning down tournaments remaining in 2018.
